Bernard George Conaway is a member of the Firm's Wilmington, Delaware office. Mr. Conaway's practice focuses on alternative dispute resolution, bankruptcy, practice before the Delaware Court of Chancery, corporate and alternate entity governance under Delaware law and complex civil litigation throughout Delaware and the country. Since 1994 Mr. Conaway has frequently been selected to serve as an arbitrator or mediator. He has successfully mediated large complex, multi-party insurance, construction and environmental disputes as well as governance and financial disputes between alternate entity members. Mr. Conaway frequently appears in Delaware 's Court of Chancery on matters involving books and records demands under Section 220 of the Delaware General Corporate law, Section 274 dissolutions, injunctive relief, specific performance, quiet title actions, guardianship, trust and estate litigation and other equitable claims.
Mr. Conaway worked his way through college and in 1983 earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from York College. Thereafter, in 1989 he graduated from the Widener University School of Law, serving on the Executive Committee of the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law and the Moot Court team. Prior starting his legal career, Mr. Conaway worked every dirty job known to exist. From this experience he often brings a unique perspective to legal problem solving. Mr. Conaway represents creditors, debtors, directors and defends preference claims in bankruptcy courts across the county. He has successfully defended the former CEO of major imaging company against preference and insider claims as well represents corporate clients nationally on various creditor and security interest claims.
Since 1990 Mr. Conaway has been involved in all variety and facets of complex civil litigation including mass tort, insurance coverage, construction and commercial cases. He served 9 years as Delaware's Special Master of asbestos litigation and was also appointed to serve as Special Master in construction and insurance coverage. He has served as national coordinating counsel on toxic tort litigation, tried cases
